SOUTHERN GOSPEL - by Lou Hildreth
It is indeed a privilege to greet you via the BAGMA Trumpet as we reflect on the blessings of God on the ministries of our co-laborers in Southern Gospel music.
Howard and I invite you to join us at a fabulous program taking place on Monday April 19th at the Gaylord Opryland Resort Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee--- the SOUTHERN GOSPEL MUSIC GUILD’s annual HARMONY HONORS. Judy Nelon, President of the SGMG, has secured a great lineup of talent for this event, and many of us will be reliving wonderful memories of early quartet days when Judy presents the “President’s Honor Award” to the OAK RIDGE BOYS. The list of talent also includes Guy Penrod, Jason Crabb, Bowling Family, Jeff & Sheri Easter, the Isaacs, Collingsworth Family, Kingsmen, Gold City, Tribute Quartet, Karen Peck & New River.
FAMILY FRIENDLY ENTERTAINMENT, a television network programming Southern Gospel Music 24/7, has scheduled exciting activities surrounding the SGMG Awards Show, beginning with Sunday Praise April 18th, and ending with morning, afternoon, and evening concerts April 20th in the Tennessee Ballroom at the beautiful Opryland Hotel.
The “Guild” (as some of us oldtimers refer to it) was established in the late eighties in Nashville when a few of us gathered to discuss ways to broaden the interest of Southern Gospel music within the industry. We formed the Southern Gospel Music Guild for the purpose of reaching more people for Christ with our beloved style of music. That is still the heart of the organization.
Howard and I will be in Nashville for the three days of concerts, including the Guild Honors Award Show. I will be working with Diana Thomas and Fresh Well Media doing TV interviews for Family Friendly Entertainment. We salute Judy Nelon and the SGMG Board as they “pull out all stops” in presenting this year’s Harmony Honors on Monday night. The bottom line for all of us is to lift up the name of Jesus! For information and reservations call 1-800-898-7418 or 615-609-6777. Leave a message and your call will be returned.
May God continue to bless the faithful efforts of the BAGMA officers, the board members, and the membership in keeping Southern Gospel music a strong force in this area. We pray for you whenever a special need is brought to our attention. Please remember us as we seek to serve the Lord. Contact us at P. O.
