The Mitschke Family Singers are a southern gospel quartet based out of Hempstead and Katy, Texas. The singers comprising the group include Larry Mitschke (lead), Wayne Mitschke (baritone), Tommy Mitschke (bass) and Missy Patino (tenor). However, it would be impossible for them to perform without the prayer, support and love of their families and friends. So, they are just as much a part of the group.
Larry was saved at the age of fourteen. After serving our country in the Marine Corp, he was married to Billie in 1965. They had three children; Larry Wayne, born in 1966, John Thomas, born in 1969, and finally Melissa Ann, born in nunyabusiness. Larry has led music for several churches and sang for several groups. He joined Gospel Express in 1989, and sang lead for them until he retired in 2001. He and his wife were members of FBC of Brenham for many years and are currently members of FBC of Hempstead.
Wayne accepted Jesus as his savior in 1971 at Spring Creek Valley Baptist Church. He began singing with his dad at the age of five. As a rebellious teenager, he played in a country band for six years before joining Gospel Express from 1990 to 1993 as their bass player. Wayne was married to Joann in 1987. He and his wife are members of FBC of Hempstead.
Tommy was saved in 1977 at FBC of Magnolia. He joined his dad and brother in singing for the first time in 1974, and has been active in the church choir everywhere he has attended. He (you notice there is no “and his wife”; he’s available ladies) is a member of FBC of Hempstead.
Missy accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of nine at FBC of Brenham. Too cool to sing with a bunch of boys, she performed her first solo at the age of eleven. She and Michael were married in 1997. They have three children; Ana Sharon, Zoe Lorene and Elizio (Eli) Michael. She and her family are members of Autumn Creek Baptist Church in Katy, Texas.
Larry and his kids began performing as the Mitschke Family Singers in 2008. However, they had many concerts in the family car on the way to and from church for many years before. Their first recording together was on a 1992 solo project for Larry. The project was named “33 Years” after the title song written by Larry. While they enjoy singing together and being in each others company, it is the Mitschke Family Singers sincerest prayer first to be useful to God in the advancement of His kingdom and second to entertain and encourage His people.
