The quartet “ Humble Hands” has evolved from the Promise Keeper’s mens movement that started in Tyler, Texas called LinK UP. In 1996, a call for volunteers to staff a praise team was made. Paul Petty put together a small vocal team to lead the Promis Keeper group of men in worship. Out of that team, an idea evolved into forming a quartet that could visit the local churches and help them with their song service. A name had to be picked for the quartet. Paul works for an oil company that once had the name Humble in years past. Paul and other Christian co-workers, while on their lunch break, would get away to themselves to study the Bible in a remote area. Other employees started calling them Humble Hands because it reminded them of years gone by how previous Humble workers would separate themselves from the distractions of the world. It’s a name with more meaning than just a bunch of oil field workers. It’s also a name that places us where Godly men should be “humble” and hard working for the Lord.

There have been many great Godly men as members working with the quartet since it’s beginning in 1996. The group now starts with a new fellowship of members. Don Mitchell from Longview singing lead, Curtis Carr also from Longview singing the tenor part, then from Hawkins W.L. Horton sings the bass, and last Paul Petty out of Overton singing baritone. The group is glad to announce that they are in the studio recording their first project. This cd has been in the plans for 10 years. We felt that God had given us the go ahead, so God matched us up with the best studio and a Christian producer in the East Texas area.

God has been good to Humble Hands and He will see that our needs are met. He is a providing God and has given us everything we've ever needed. The doors have opened up for the quartet’s ministry and they have ministered to a vast number of people. Our prayer is that someone is going to be changed after they have attended a concert with groups like ours. We will strive to be humble, obedient, and place our trust in Him.

Humble Hands Quartet is a traditional southern gospel quartet ministry that has the committed desire to serve the Lord, local churches, and public gatherings in the East Texas area. The members of the quartet are from the Baptist and Pentecostal faith and have been singing in the ministry for many years. They have sung for the US armed forces, open air in town square, churches, retirement / nursing homes, all day singings, oprys, and back yard bar-b-ques. The members are from all over the East Texas area: Longview, Hawkins, and New London.

You will be lifted up with songs made popular by Gold City, Gaither Vocal Band, The Kingdom Heirs, Greater Vision, and many others. And they always have a Heavenly Highway Hymnal song or two. Come on along and sing with them.
